Srinagar, Dec 05 (KNO): Jammu & Kashmir has received over ₹1,800 crore in central grants under the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS) over the last three financial years, according to data tabled in the Lok Sabha. As per official figures accessed by the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), J&K has a sanctioned Gross Budgetary Support (GBS) of ₹4,803 crore under the scheme. Of this, the Union Ministry of Power released ₹349 crore in 2023–24, ₹624 crore in 2024–25, and ₹828 crore so far during 2025–26, reflecting a steady increase in annual fund flow to the UT’s power distribution sector. The Ministry clarified that no proposal from any State or UT, including Jammu & Kashmir, is pending for approval and that fund releases are strictly linked to DISCOM performance milestones. RDSS aims to improve the reliability and quality of electricity supply through the strengthening of distribution infrastructure and financial turnaround plans for DISCOMs across the country. The Ministry stated that delays in fund release occur only when utilities fail to meet specific guidelines and milestones. Officials said the continued release of funds indicates J&K’s ongoing progress under its approved action plan, which includes loss reduction, feeder modernisation, and improved consumer services—(KNO)
